How We Got Started…

As with many other innovative products, KidKupz was born out of a desire to help find a solution to a problem.

My own children protested when it was time to take any medicine but I always accepted it as a necessary evil and did the best I could with begging, reasoning, bribery and treats–none of which ever really prevented the struggle or the tears.

When my step-father retired from a career in the finance world, he began volunteering in a cancer hospital in New York on the pediatric floor.  His time spent there became his passion and his primary goal was to put smiles on the children’s faces whenever possible.  He was always frustrated to see these young children struggle to take the most harsh tasting medicines and he often spoke about it to my mother and me.

When my stepfather passed away in 2005, my mother and I decided we wanted to pick up where he left off and try to develop something that every child could benefit from.  Whether for the occassional fever in the middle of the night, or the weeklong course of antibiotic, we’ve all been there and needed something to help make the medicine go down. Thus began the journey that started with months of experimentation and trial and error in our kitchen, followed by designing a machine that could replicate our handmade method and of course, tons of  taste-testing by our youngest experts…kids!
